- Stefania, com’è nata l’idea di intraprendere la professione di make-up artist?
Stefania, how did the idea to pursue the profession of make-up artist?
la passione c’è da sempre, il fascino di poter modificare la percezione della realtà ed il grande potere comunicativo che offrono il trucco, l’acconciatura e il costume sono ciò che mi ha spinto ad approfondire ed intraprendere questa carriera, ricca di esperienze e grandi soddisfazioni.
I miei studi sono iniziati con il liceo artistico, poi la formazione è proseguita in maniera autodidatta, facendo ricerca, studi ed esperienza pratica diretta. Inizialmente affiancare altri truccatori mi ha dato la possibilità di imparare le tempistiche, i ruoli e i rapporti con i vari reparti del set, e mi ha permesso di notare le cose oggettivamente errate nell’esecuzione del make-up.
Quando parlo di oggettività dell’errore, faccio riferimento non ad una opinione personale soggettiva, ma a regole di riferimento dimostrabili.
Un esempio:
per la neutralizzazione di una discromia cutanea come un’occhiaia violacea dobbiamo far riferimento alle regole dell’ottica della neutralizzazione dei colori complementari sottrattivi. Sono leggi fisiche ampiamente dimostrate e documentate, ma l’errore del truccatore è spesso evidente.
Osservando un trucco non ne discuto il gusto personale nell’uso del colore, ma l’eventuale errore di sequenza cromatica nello sviluppo di una sfumatura o nella creazione di ombreggiature non corrispondenti con i volumi geometrici delle zone dove sono applicate. Ovviamente sono concetti difficili da spiegare in poche righe, ma ampliamente relazionati e dimostrati nei miei corsi.

My studies are initiated with the art school, then training is continued in a self-taught, doing research, studies and practical experience.
Initially supporting other makeup artists gave me the opportunity to learn timing, roles and relationships with the various departments of the set, and allowed me to see things objectively wrong in the execution of make-up.
When I talk about the objectivity of the error, I am referring not to a subjective personal opinion, but a demonstrable reference rules.
An example:
for the neutralization of dark circles ( purple), we should refer to the rules of the optics of the neutralization of subtractive complementary colors.
Are physical laws widely proven and documented, but the error of make-up artist is evident.
Observing a trick don't discuss personal taste in the use of color, but any chromatic sequence error in developing a gradient or create shadows that don't match with the geometric areas where volumes are applied.
Of course are difficult concepts to explain in a few lines, but widely related and proven in my courses.

Sono più di vent’anni che lavoro in questo settore come truccatrice, acconciatrice ed effettista speciale, come insegnante da più di 15 anni.
Are more than 20 years I work in this area as a makeup artist, hair style, special effects , as a teacher for more than 15 years.

La mia società ha molteplici aspetti. Come agenzia forniamo un service di truccatori, acconciatori ed effettisti speciali per i vari campi dello show business:
televisione, pubblicità, fotografia, moda, teatro, eventi ed ovunque ci sia la necessità di professionisti dell’immagine.
Sono un art-director per campagne pubblicitarie fotografiche, una delle principali passioni. Facciamo formazione attraverso le nostre quattro scuole italiane, con una numerosa serie di corsi.

In that channel are distributed your products and what are the qualitative characteristics?
La mia linea di make-up è distribuita in farmacie, centri estetici, saloni di acconciatura, SPA, nails center.
Ho creato degli strumenti e prodotti che rispecchiassero specifiche esigenze e risolvessero i problemi relativi ad un utilizzo del make-up a livello professionale.
Se un prodotto ha caratteristiche qualitative che soddisfano un professionista, avrà un apprezzamento molto alto anche dall’utilizzatrice finale. Studi sulla composizione cosmetica e i processi produttivi sono stati fondamentali per organizzare la ricerca, produzione e distribuzione della mia linea di trucco.
La richiesta e il gradimento dei miei prodotti mi danno grande soddisfazione e ripagano il lavoro e l’impegno per produrli.
Le caratteristiche specifiche sono molte: qualità delle materie prime, grande selezione di colorazioni [32 colori di fondotinta], un’ottima aderenza e tenuta, versatilità, ma soprattutto una linea che non segue le mode del momento ma che vuole soddisfare le esigenze del professionista e dell’utilizzatrice finale nel trucco quotidiano.

I created tools and products that reflect the needs and solve the problems with a use of make-up professional level.
If a product has quality characteristics that meet a professional, will have a very high appreciation from the final user.
Studies on cosmetic composition and production processes were crucial to organize the research, production and distribution of my makeup line.
The request and the liking of my products give me great satisfaction and repay the work and commitment to produce them.
There are many specific characteristics: quality of raw materials, great selection of colors [32 colors of Foundation], an optimum grip and grip, versatility, but especially a line that does not follow the fashions of the time but who wants to meet the needs of the professional and the final user in everyday makeup.
- Stefania, sei molto amata e seguita per la tua bravura professionale. Quali sono le città che ospiteranno i tuoi corsi di trucco ed acconciatura?

I corsi si tengono principalmente a Roma, il calendario prevede inoltre tappe a Napoli, Cosenza e Cagliari, tre città a cui sono molto affezionata dove, in collaborazione con i relativi distributori, organizziamo da anni i corsi di formazione.
The courses are held mostly in Rome, the calendar will also include stops in Naples, Cosenza and Cagliari, three cities who have doggedly faithful where, in collaboration with its distributors, we organize for years training courses.
- Hanno riscosso molto successo anche il corso di “effetti speciali”. Di cosa si tratta esattamente e quali saranno le prossime date da segnarsi in agenda per seguirti?

È un corso estremamente affascinante e la tempo stesso molto divertente.
La scuola si trasforma in un laboratorio di mostri, zombie, mummie e tanto altro, attraverso lattice e materiali vari.
È uno step fondamentale nella formazione del truccatore che vuole affrontare questa professione ad alto livello.
Nel cinema è richiesto spesso al truccatore di creare effetti verosimili sugli attori come tagli, contusioni, cicatrici o applicare barbe, baffi e parrucche, per trasformazioni complesse. Nel mio corso si impara tutto questo.
La prossima data, ancora non definita, sarà per gennaio 2014.
Is a fascinating course and the same time a lot of fun.
The school is transformed into a laboratory of monsters, zombies, Mummies and much more, through LaTeX and various materials. Is a fundamental step in the formation of the make-up artist who wants to tackle this profession at a high level. - Non è sempre facile esaltare la bellezza di ogni individuo. Quali sono i tuoi segreti per riuscirci al meglio?

Equilibrio e preparazione.
Il metodo che insegno necessita di grande esercizio pratico per acquisire le giusta dinamica e misura.
Come in tutte le forme di espressione artistica, dalla musica alla danza, anche nel trucco la tecnica si esprimere attraverso la capacità di dosare la propria preparazione.
E questo si acquisisce con il tempo.

- Cosa apprezzi di più nel tuo lavoro?
What you love most in your work?
La libertà e l’indipendenza di azione, acquisita nel tempo con il duro lavoro senza compromessi intellettuali, la varietà del mondo che mi sono creata, la possibilità di creare sempre qualcosa di nuovo.
Poter lavorare dietro le quinte, comprendendo e facendo parte del meraviglioso meccanismo che muove l’illusione.
The freedom and independence of action, acquired over time with the uncompromising intellectual hard work, the diversity of the world that I have created, the ability to create something new. To work behind the scenes, understanding and making part of the wonderful mechanism that moves the illusion.
- Quali sono le caratteristiche che si devono possedere per diventare un’ottima artista come te?
What are the characteristics that you must have to become a good artist like you?
Un grande e continuo impegno. La costanza e la tenacia sono fondamentali, non credo nella fortuna.
A big and continuous engagement. The perseverance and tenacity are essential, I don't believe in luck.
